ABOUT FRONTLINE KENYA
Frontline Kenya works with grassroots women’s rights organisations, survivors and activists to end FGM through Mass Caravan Rallies and Media Campaigns. Led by local campaigners, these initiatives take anti-FGM messages directly to communities, reaching families through public rallies, radio and other local media.
We provide funding, training and media support to the organisations leading these campaigns, helping them reach more people and protect girls at risk.
Frontline Kenya is part of #FrontlineEndingFGM, a network of more than 1,000 grassroots organisations and activists across Africa. In Kenya, we work alongside the Anti-FGM Board, county governments and local partners.

of women and girls in some communities in eastern Kenya have undergone FGM.
Nationally, FGM prevalence has fallen to 14.8% among women aged 15–49. But in counties such as West Pokot, Isiolo, Tharaka Nithi, Wajir and Garissa, cutting continues — increasingly hidden from view.
THE BORN PERFECT CARAVANS
FrontlineEndingFGM’s Born Perfect Caravans and local media campaigns are taking the fight to end FGM to remote and underserved communities across Africa. Led by experienced local women, activists, influencers and survivors, the campaigns bring anti-FGM messages and information directly to communities where the practice persists.
In 2024, the European Union committed €4.2 million to support locally led efforts to end FGM in Kenya. Managed by the UNFPA Joint Programme, the Komesha FGM Sasa! project focuses on seven regions with some of Kenya’s highest FGM rates: Isiolo, Garissa, Marsabit, Wajir, Tharaka Nithi, West Pokot and Elgeyo Marakwet.
The German Government has also funded Ifrah Foundation, working in partnership with the Frontline network in Kenya, to bring information about the law against FGM to communities through the Born Perfect Caravans in Wajir and Garissa, as well as neighbouring Somali communities in Galmudug.

THE DEAR DAUGHTER PLEGDE
Through the Born Perfect Caravan Rallies, parents and guardians are invited to sign the Dear Daughter Pledge — a public commitment never to subject their daughters to FGM and to protect them from the practice.
First developed by Ifrah Foundation and UNFPA, the Dear Daughter Campaign encourages families to turn awareness into action. Launched in Somalia with the ambition of scaling up efforts to end FGM by 2030, the pledge is now part of the Born Perfect Caravans’ work with communities in Kenya.
